Hello Everyone,
I am a gospel singer/songwriter with a traditional and some light contemporary style. I write many, many songs. I have no music to any of them. I do all my songs on studio tracks, but they are totally acappella. The harmony is tight. I would like to write for gospel groups professional and non professional. How do I get myself out there as a songwriter. I am not a stranger in the gospel music industry, I know many professional gospel singers who are household names. I have been singing for many years and know practically all the guartets out there, many personally like Lee Williams, Gospel Four, Evelyn Turrentine Agee, Keith Wonderboy Johnson, Doc Mckenzie, and more. But, the problem is people do not want to help you these days with fear of your doing something better than them. I think it is sooooooooo sad, but it is true. Not saying that about any of those mentioned, but many are like that.
1. I need advice from someone out there seriously in this business to tell me how I can get started?
My songs are just sitting collecting dust.
2. How do I go about getting music put to my songs without paying an arm or a leg? Everytime I ask a musician they act as if they are too above helping me. I just do not have time for that drama.
ALSO
3. How can I get into helping others with their projects. Being something like a producer or something like that. I have an excellent ear, for musicians playing and vocals. Can't too much slip by me. I can listen to a project and pick out almost every mistake. I won't say every mistake for I am not perfect. I would like to help people before their material is mastered. Some projects I have listened to I say to myself, if I could have only helped them, the final project could have been better. To many of the professional gospel quartets that know me, they know me for singing in a gospel group and by being on the same concerts as them. But, I am just a little pup, but I know that God has given me a talent. I just want to start using it to the fullest of my potential.
I have another post in the Cribbs Music Forum under the same name so read it if your interested or have time. Cherry, 931-302-8623.
